COMM240 Final Video

Over the course of my COMM 240 class, I have been able to work on and experience many different things such as Adobe Spark, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro. As a Public Relations student, this class has been very helpful to build both my knowledge and skills that will help me find jobs and be successful in the future.

To shoot my video, I used things that were available in the Ipad kit such as a Tripod, Microphone, Ipad, Camera Light and other accessories. This was my first time being able to use these things, so this first project it a rough draft of what the rest of my life will look like. For this project, I thought I did pretty well considering I have never used applications like Premiere Pro and Photoshop.

I was able to get help from both my wonderful professor and some classmates from both my class and from the classes after mine. My friend Lea from the second class really helped me get started and was able to clear up a few things for me to help me be successful with the rest of the project. I learned so much throughout this class and I could not be more thankful!

If I could change anything in my project, I would have liked to shoot more video of me in public rather than in a room, and I would have liked to incorporate more photos to make it more visually appealing.

Overall, I am happy with how my first video project turned out and as I move towards the future, I will work on improving my projects and the overall quality.

My First Blog! 9/17/18

As this is my first website at my new college home – St. Cloud State University, I thought I would write a blog about why I chose to transfer here, and how the decision has impacted my life and my future career.

Initially, when I was choosing Universities back in the fall of 2016, I had many different ideas to where I wanted to go, but oddly enough, SCSU was not one of them. At the time, I wanted to be a Sports Journalist who had wanted the best school possible, which was Iowa State University- my dream school. Not only was that campus beautiful, but they had a school newspaper that was No. 1 in the nation and I was hoping that by me joining that newspaper, it would jumpstart my career as a journalist. I ended up getting a gig with the school newspaper as a Beat writer for the schools Hockey team – a great experience for me to find out what I really wanted to do in Sports Journalism (Check out some of my Hockey stories!). But whether it was a combination of homesickness or just having the freshman jitters, at the end of the year, Iowa State University ended up not being the right school for me.

When looking for a University to transfer to this past Spring, St. Cloud State became an easy choice for me. Not only would I be closer to home, but they had a good Mass Communications program that I was interested in joining. I had changed my major from Sports Journalism to Public Relations because I found out I wanted to work more behind the scenes in the Sports Industry while still following my love and passion for Hockey.

The decision to transfer to SCSU has been one of the best decisions I have made in awhile. Over the first few weeks, I have met an abundance of new friends, professors and staff that have made my transitions to St. Cloud one of the easiest moves ever.

In the next coming months, I will be joining a sorority and will hopefully be getting a job with SCSU Athletics to keep me busy through the week, while taking 18 credits for my academics. I want to be as busy and involved as possible to better serve myself to create a big network.

As the year goes on, I will be posting on my blog with some occasional life updates and other fun miscellaneous things – so make sure to follow along with my posts and the rest of my journey here at St. Cloud State!
